The long awaited Sony PS3 has now hit the streets in Britain amid a huge rush to get hold of the latest console. Sony has seen a record success in Sales selling over 165,000 in the first two days, compared with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 at 71,000 in its first weekend and Nintendo’s Wii selling 105,000. Sony is obviously delighted with the figures and is now replenishing stocks to retailers. Related games have soared high into the software charts, with titles such as Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, F1 2006 (Formula 1): Championship Edition, Ridge Racer 7 to name a few.

This is the first console to reach us with a high definition format which can use Blu-Ray discs enabling the user to keep up to date with the latest movies, storage of photo’s, home video’s and music library’s. Flash memory can be used in the forms of Memory Stick, CompactFlash or SD/MMC, The PS3 has four USB Sockets, a Gigabit Ethernet port and the 60GB version sports Bluetooth 2.0 EDR.
Design
The PS3 is without doubt the sexiest looking console on the market, with its sleek lines and chrome edge on black models it’s hard not to fall in love with it. The controllers which are now wireless have been modeled on the famous PS2 controllers. They employ a highly sensitive six-axis sensing system that is able to recognize every parameter the user can move, similar to the Wii if you dive to the left you will go to the left in game.
Would you buy one?
If I had 475.00 would I buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360 and have spare change? The PS3 in my mind has the edge at the moment in terms of tech for the customer, and played on a 32” HD TV some of our favorites games are a must. A lot of research and money is being spent by game manufacturers at the moment to blow us away later this year with full next-generation titles.
