Sony and Logitech have both released a camera that features yourself in several games in front of the television. The camera does all the work for you, so all you really need to do is just dance and move!
The EyeToy currently has two compatible games that are designed to work with - EyeToy: Play and EyeToy: Groove. Both games don't really have any motives in them, morely novel party games that can keep the more active gamers busy, and in quite a creative way. Such games, like fighting pirates who jump towards you, getting ready to kick your lives down to zero unless you can punch them away yourself. In the later levels, you will look almost like a geezer as you fight the lot of enemies jumping from left and right of the screen to knock you senseless. Just don't break the telly! And that's just one of many things to mention when playing with the EyeToy.
EyeToy: Groove takes the similar idea but puts more of a musical related twist to it, where dancing is more of the key rather than knocking things down, and making attrative musical Pop videos.
EyeToy: Play offers fun and addictive games, which although novel will draw you in for more. The idea of using a different skill of actual physical movements to complete a game is a new way to get those hardcore gamers going physical, but unfortunately, it fails to appeal to hardcore gamers. Yep, those who don't use their PS2 the most will seem to get more fun out of this. The pick up (or stand up) and play idea will certainly attract those who want a quick game to play every once in a while.
Finally, EyeToy has only got two games to promote itself, and it seems pretty novel at the moment, but it could hold a bigger use in the future. Fancy your face on a footballer in Pro Evolution 4? Use the movement detection on the camera to star in a fighting game? It's a slow start, but this camera has a lot of possibilities, and a reasonable price, but perhaps it will be worth the wait to see what the EyeToy can really do with other games! RP
