While it doesn't show you everything that the Gamecube is capable of as there has been better on the system. This does not, however mean it is bad in anyway. The environments look great, but the game suffers from problems with the minor details. Facial expressions were a tad odd at times, there are some instances where things become a bit blurry as well as other times when the game starts to suffer from a poor frame rate. Other then that, the game looks and runs great. Aside from the few facial problems, character animations look great. Things tend to get a bit Matrix-ish at times but it is nothing big. Overall, the Gamecube really does do a good job at recreating the MGS experience.
Sound
To make things simple; the sound is amazing. Some of the best voice acting I have ever seen in a game bring the entire cast of characters to life like no game has ever done before. The effects are brilliant. Hearing things such as the shell casings of the FAMAS hit the ground as you unload into the enemies is something to behold. Easily one of the games brighest spots, it really is something you'll have to hear for yourself.
Gameplay
Taking into account the fact that the jump from the Playstation controller to the Gamecube controller which is quite a change from the norm, Twin Snakes has only few minor problems in this area. While it will take some getting used to (The loss of the L2 and R2 buttons hurts a bit) the controls are quite good. Also, since the Gamecube has quite a bit less buttons meaning there are a few button combinations you will need to prepare to use quite a bit if you really want to get into the game. The levels are true to the original with very few minor changes, the enemy A.I is vastly improved making it a much more realisitc (and in turn more enjoyable) gaming experience.
Story
Not much to say here. It is the same story as told in the original on the Playstation with no major (or minor for that matter) changes noticable. If you've played the original, don't expect anything other then the same, old, amazing, griping, deep story with more plot twists than you can shake a stick at. Newbie to the series? Be prepared for the ride of your life. As I stated several times nothing is new and that's the way it should be.
Summary
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes takes everything that was great about the original and blows it out of the water. The amount of replayability is also another thing that will be sure to please veterans and newcomers to the series alike. Controls will take a bit of getting used to, but once you've got them down be prepared for one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences around. Oh and one more thing; The dog tags are back. BM
