Call of Duty 3 (30/03/2007)

You have been called to do your duty...are you up for it?

Call of Duty 3 is the third installment in the popular series, and what a hard act they have had to follow. FPS on console had never been up to the very high standard of PC until now, with gorgeous graphics, a new physics engine, immersive game play and multiplayer mode, Activision have given the Gamer just what they wanted. The new close quarter combat means players can now fight hand to hand, team based multiplayer mode allows vehicles and mission paths are available to keep the player interested.

The sound is in Dolby 5.1 and is as realistic as one would expect in the heat of battle. Plenty of new weapons have been added as have some fun vehicles such as tanks or even motorcycles. The whole atmosphere of the Normandy Breakout involving the British, Canadian, Polish, and American forces pushing into the city of Chambois, France has been captured beautifully. With a sophisticated weather system and realistic animations such as smoke and explosions, one can get much immersed into this Glorious FPS.

The usual classes are there but cannot be changed until the player dies. Classes include rifleman, light and heavy assault, medic, scout, support and anti-armor. Each class has unique abilities, such as reviving team mates, calling in artillery as a scout or firing grenades as a rifleman.

In multiplayer mode there are many games to be played, with up to 24 players at one time. Tradition death match is there as is capture the flag, team battle and many more to keep the avid Gamer satisfied. Motion plus is included but sadly player rankings are not, making this a must do fix in the near future.
