Okay, okay, enough of the puns but how could one resist when there were so many to choose from?
Sega and Nokia have joined forces! On March the 17th 2004, the great gaming creator and phone manufacturer announced that they were to be bringing out Pocket Kingdoms: Own the World for the Nokia N-Gage. This immense and enthralling game boasts the fact of their being no boundaries in on-line gaming with its unbelievable multiplayer options, including; being able to link up to another player by the use of Bluetooth or connect to the online N-Gage Arena where you will encounter thousands of armies that you will have to battle it out against, using strategy and wit, to claim Ulgress as your own to control!
The main feature that has been boasted about the most with the N-Gage is the multiplayer gaming and now we are beginning to see that Nokia are starting to put a lot into proving that to the world and are making more games to enable these features. Known officially as Massively Multiplayer Online gaming (MMO).
"As the first worldwide Massively Multiplayer Online mobile game, ‘Pocket Kingdom: Own The World’ showcases the power of both the N-Gage platform and the N-Gage Arena," were the proud words of Gerard Wiener, the Director of Network Game Solutions, Nokia. "The N-Gage Arena allows thousands of gamers around the world to connect for global mobile online battles, creating dynamic and unscripted gaming experiences. Gamers will relish the challenge."
How can anyone disagree against such a statement of surety and excitement? In many ways this statement alone sums up the game as a whole to being a new and unique experience that all games will not be able to tare themselves away from.
Pasi, the Director of Games Publishing, Nokia also comes to the same conclusions as his colleague:
'Pocket Kingdom: Own The World’ defies preconceived notions about mobile gaming and creates an entirely new genre: global massively multiplayer online mobile games," confirmed Pasi. "The N-Gage platform, in part because of its unique mobile connected features, helps game developers unleash their creativity and build games for a truly global market."
It seems to be true that this is happening and allowing game developers to lead on in the gaming industry with a new line of thought to produce unique and addictive new games. Sega, being the creator of the title, has definitely shown its usual stuff of being able to have what it takes and give the world another game to become hooked on and to be talked about everywhere.
"Sega has long been a pioneer in the world of online gaming. We are very proud to have been a part of bringing ‘Pocket Kingdom: Own the World’ to the N-Gage platform," Hiroshi Okamoto, the Producer of the title, Sega Corporation announced.
With many fantasy games of today, there has been a high level of customisation incorporated into them and Pocket Kingdoms: Own the World is no exception. To begin with, within the vast fantasy world, there are over 400 castle configurations to build the invincible fort that you will need for the 100 collectable units to fight your battles and over 50, 000 items to collect that will enable you to equip your army, making it unstoppable.
Through the use of the N-Gage Arena, there is an online auction feature where you can buy and sell the items that you need to customise your army and kit them up just the way you want.
Not only can you play against the hundreds of armies, to battle it out for your territory and to gain more, via the use of the N-Gage Arena but there is also another new and brilliant idea. When the game is released there will be many who buy it on the day and play it non-stop: on the train, bus, walking, sitting or in the car---even whilst driving. Others, however, will straggle into the shops after about a week, when they actually realise it is now out, and then begin to play it. To protect the avid and addicted games, that have levelled up and created a vast kingdom, from the ‘newbies’ is the process of having to beat bosses within the online game to advance to higher levels and access higher areas.
Because of this it means that everyone is allowed to play the game at their own pace without interruptions. To many avid and addictive gamers this will be seen as an absolutely blessing! To the ‘newbies’ it might be seen as an insult but we all have to start somewhere guys.
From what is seen on the official N-Gage site, by the means of screenshots and video clips, Pocket Kingdoms: Own the World looks to be a fantastic game of wizards, warriors and dragons! Because of its great multiplayer abilities this looks to be a game that is very eagerly waited for.
It is said to be released in November of this year, which is not soon enough to be honest, as this could be the game that the N-Gage has been waiting for to push their name up in the market and show them the new and unique capabilities that they have boasted about for so long. TR
