Halo 3 is definitely one of the most anticipated titles coming on the Xbox360. Halo 2 itself was a great step forward and truly a worthy sequel to Halo. But, as Bungie claims, they didn’t have the time to make Halo 2 into the game they wanted it be. So they ensure that Halo 3 is going to be a game worth playing. But can it rise up to the expectations?
Weapons
Hurray for old school fans! The assault rifle is confirmed to be back in the game. With some minor tweaks like accuracy it will be a good weapon for close to mid range fights.
Another interesting weapon is a new type of grenade, which is said to stick to all surfaces (mainly used by the Brute race). These spike grenades are sure to add some more excitement to the game.
There will also be a new anti vehicle weapon added to the current selection.
The Spartan Laser will be a gun mounted on the shoulders which fires a – after charging for a few seconds – a powerful laser to incinerate it’s unsuspecting enemies. Usable on infantry but more effective on vehicles.
And these are just a few of the upcoming weapons, not to mention minor improvements/tweaks to the current weapons.
Vehicles
Not much has been let out yet about the vehicles in Halo 3. But we’re sure to see a rework of the old models like the Warthog and the Banshee.
There have also been speculation going around of a “Brute Ghost” as it was seen in a small clip of Halo 3. These type of Ghosts are not yet confirmed.
Also, there have been rumors about adding a fast paced vehicle without weapons for quick scouting, nothing of this has been confirmed as of yet.
Maps
Valhalla. This name might not sound familiar to you but it is the evolved version of Blood Gulch(Halo) or Coagulation(Halo 2). Basically 2 bases lying on the outer sides of the map. The terrain itself has become more hilly to avoid the domination of snipers, something you would encounter if you would play on the previous two versions.
A nice addition to the maps is the placement of computer operated turrets. These turrets will probably be used for defensive purposes and will contribute in the overall excitement in the multiplayer maps.
So far from what we’ve seen Halo 3 is definitely going to be an improvement upon Halo 2 both in visual and in gameplay aspects.
