Sorry folks, press release copy and pastes abound today, don't have the time to do anything fancy! Well, I should imagine many of you remember the original, classic Speedball.. I was never a huge fan but, face it, what the hell else were we going to use Acorn computers for? It was a great game, as is the case with many older titles, and has even spawned a playstation rehash. But there is a time in almost every games life when it needs a sequel- and Glu Mobile have only gone and delivered one.
Glu Mobile, Inc., a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, today announced the European launch of Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, a futuristic sports game which puts you in control of Brutal Deluxe, the newest team in a league full of seasoned pros. The aim of the game is to defeat all the other teams and claim the no.1 spot in the Speedball championship. But standing in your way are 9 opponents prepared to do anything to stop you. Speedball 2 is a game where kicking and punching your way to victory is not only allowed, it's rewarded!
Speedball 2 is the first Bitmap title to be launched by Glu after the company signed a three game licensing deal announced at E3 back in May 2005. The mobile version retains all of the quality and innovation of the original game, while introducing unique mobile elements such as Bluetooth multiplayer modes and instant replays which can be uploaded to the web.
"Speedball 2 was one of the most popular console games to be launched in the early 90's," said Kristian Segerstrale, VP for Production, Glu Mobile. "The mobile version we have created is faithful to the original title, while also playing to the strengths of the mobile platform by using Bluetooth and networking. We are very proud of the finished product and believe that people playing the game for the first time will understand why the game became such a classic; fans of the original get the chance to have this genre-defining game in their pocket."
Originally Founded in 1987, The bitmap Brothers are considered by many to be the original 'rock stars' of computer game development: a small but highly successful development team with a history of creating unique, critically and commercially acclaimed IP across a number of popular platforms including the Commodore Amiga, Sega MegaDrive and Sony Playstation.
