Gizmondo Europe today announced it had purchased Stockhold-based developer, Indie Studios. The purchase will allow Gizmondo to hold exclusive rights over Indie Studios' games, whilst allowing the Gizmondo game library to grow immediately and for the future.
Carl Freer, Managing Director for Gizmondo says: "With our resources and financial muscle, we are able to provide Indie Studios with essential support and direction. And by owning our own games developer, we gain control over unique content and its evolution."
"We are very glad with the deal," says Christian Ericson CEO, Indie Studios. "The Gizmondo platform provides extraordinary potential for games developers, giving another dimension for scenarios and game play."
In the past few months, Indie Studios has been primarily involved in creating GPRS-based games for the Gizmondo handheld, such as Colors and City. Both titles take full advantage of the Gizmondo's GPRS capabilties, and certainly bring multiplayer gaming to a new dimension.
The Gizmondo handheld is scheduled to release on Q4 2004 in the UK. RP
