The Gizmondo handheld will come equipped with the world's smallest memory chip, mDiskOnChip G3 from M-Systems. mDiskOnChip G3 delivers efficient memory storage for embedded systems, without compromising reliability and performance. The chip is also compatible with Microsoft Windows CE .NET, the operating system which Gizmondo is planned to use.
"DiskOnChip's ease of integration has helped us to decrease our time to market. Like Microsoft's operating system and Samsung's processor, M-Systems' flash disk is helping us to deliver an amazing amount of high-performance functionality, which should also help us to capture some of the enormous handheld gaming market," said Steve Carroll, CTO at Gizmondo.
The Gizmondo is set to intially launch in the UK later this year with a hefty price tag of between £150 and £200. RP
