In another interview with Impress PC Watch, Ken Kutaragi has revealed that the PlayStation 3 will not ship with an internal HDD. Although rumours have previously hinted towards a built-in HDD for the PS3, it seems that the PS3 HDD will now only be available as an add-on.
He also revealed that the PS3 HDD may come preinstalled with the Linux operating system, which given the Cell chip’s capabilities will certainly allow for a number of processor-intensive applications such as video editing and audio tools to run on the console.
