Sony’s popular racing franchise slips in the US and Japan.

Sony Computer Entertainment has delayed the release of Gran Turismo 4 in Japan and North America. Gran Turismo 4 was previously scheduled to hit both territories during early December.

In a statement released this week, SCEA said that the delay had to be done to ensure the quality of the final product.

"Natural challenges with finalising all the key features and localisation issues across worldwide territories have led to the difficult choice of pushing back the release date in order to ensure that Gran Turismo 4 lives up to the exacting standards of the 36 million-plus fans worldwide that have purchased previous versions," said the statement.

Gran Turismo 4 will now be released in Japan on the 28th December and sometime during the first half of 2005 for North America and Europe. RP
