The Sims 2 set to be released on every conceivable format.

Electronic Arts has announced that they are planning on releasing console and handheld versions of their popular PC hit The Sims 2. The Sims 2 will be released on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PSP, GBA and mobile phones. Crikey, that's almost every console and handheld of this generation.

Each console and handheld version of The Sims 2 will apparently include special features. For example, the PS2 version will support the EyeToy and HDD.

"Fans have been asking for The Sims 2 on console since it launched on the PC in September last year. We are thrilled to finally be able to bring it to them," said Sinjin Bain, Executive Producer EA/Maxis. "The Sims 2 will be everywhere this Autumn, giving players on consoles and handhelds all new ways to take control of their Sims and tell all new stories."
