Nintendo’s initial sales figures for the Nintendo DS claim that 500,000 units were sold since the launch of the DS last week. This impressive figure represents roughly 90 percent of all units available across the US.
In addition, these figures have encouraged Nintendo to ship five million DS units worldwide by the end of March 2005, which includes both the imminent Japanese and European launches.
Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance handheld has seen a sharp increase in sales, selling more than 800,000 units during the past week.
The Nintendo DS is scheduled to hit Europe in the first half of 2005. RP
