New coloured DS units boost Japanese sales (31/03/2005)

Pure White and Graphite Black DS seem to do the trick.

According to the latest sales statistics obtained by Dengeki Online, Nintendo’s new Eastern-themed DS colours seem to be doing well in the Japanese market. Since the Pure White and Graphite Black DS (pictured on the left) units hit shelves in Japan on the 24th March sales have evidently improved with up to 54,000 units sold, compared to last week’s sales of 21,000 units.

If you fancy having one of these units, you’ll have to import one from Japan until Nintendo releases the first coloured DS units outside of Japan.

In related news, Nintendo has sold over 500,000 DS units in Europe ever since the launch of the handheld on the 11th March.
