Castlevania DS details emerge (03/01/2005)

Konami reverts to 2D gameplay.

The Magic Box has dropped hints that Konami’s initial Castlevania title for the Nintendo DS will be sticking to the series’ roots by featuring 2D gameplay. The scanned screenshots on the left – taken from The Magic Box – clearly show that the game’s aesthetics are similar to the previous Castlevanias on the Game Boy Advance.

In addition, the action will take place on the top screen, whilst the touch screen will function as a map. Certainly not anything we haven’t seen before, but here’s what makes this game truly unique – in order to active the magic seals, symbols have to be drawn on the touch screen.

It’ll be released in the autumn.
