“Violence is bad. Or so the tabloids would have us believe. Naughty old violence, eh! So faced with the unenviable position of trying to tame down the violence while simultaneously attempting to fulfil humans’ innate penchant for the red stuff, the answer seems obvious. Add in something cute so people will coo and gurgle over it, and subsequently forget all about the violence that runs rampant around them.” Excerpted from the anal annals of Adam Shirley, Volume 3712.
Would you believe it, that’s exactly what those clever folks over at Mithis have done! Dressed up a wargame with cutsieness, so you’ve got cuddly animals running around blowing each other up. As a turn-based action/strategy title, Creature Conflict: The Clan Wars looks to be a whole new take on the Worms 3D formula.
Commendably, there is an underlying sense of purpose that the Worms failed to deliver, as CC sees you attempting to take control of a galaxy through dominance of its planets. There are four different playable animal clans, and the single player campaign allows you to lead your clan to supremacy by sending the rest to animal heaven.
There is also a multiplayer option so you can battle co-operatively with your mates, or else just unleash your animal instincts and eviscerate them gruesomely. Published by Ascaron Entertainment (yay!), and Cenega Publishing, Creature Conflict: The Clan Wars is headed for release on the 6th May. It will be launched on both PC and Xbox.
