Ascaron have just announced that they have acquired the exclusive UK and Ireland publishing rights for a series of products from the Czech publisher Cenega Publishing. This currently consists of four titles, all of which look fairly promising.
El Matador (PC) – A third person, tactical action game, where the player takes on the role of a DEA agent, whose aim is to bring down the Narcomafia, an organised crime syndicate in South America.
UFO Aftershock (PC and Xbox) – the sequel to the highly successful 2003 title – UFO: Aftermath – and follows directly from one of the final scenes of the first title, where the player agrees to hand over the earth to the alien scientists, who are trying to change the planet into a giant living organism.
The Roots (PC and Xbox) – An action RPG with a complex, multi-threaded storyline and a vast world, which the player discovers whilst travelling with his party, fighting various monsters and living through great adventures. Sounds like Final Fantasy then…
Creature Conflict: The Clan Wars (due in April 2005 for PC and Xbox) – A blend of turn-based tactical and real-time action/arcade elements following the successful Worms tradition.
The Clan Wars and The Great Art Race will both be out in April, whereas the remaining titles will be released on the 3rd and 4th quarter of this year.
