Square-Enix has confirmed that it is seeking to take over Japanese publisher and arcade company Taito for as much as $610 million.

If the planned take over is successful, which seems likely seeing as Taito's largest shareholder is supporting the acquisition, Square-Enix could be Japan's third biggest games company. What's more, shares for both companies have already climbed upon hearing the news.
