GH: What sets Resonance apart from the other RPG's being released this year?
GB: The combat system is action oriented. The player will be able to perform single or combo attacks using a variety of melee weapons, each with their strengths and weaknesses. He will also be able to block, parry and dodge incoming attacks. There is also the use of black powder weapons such as a flintlock pistol. In addition, many of Faye’s special powers have a direct use in combat, adding even more variety. The combat system will offer enough flexibility to allow each player to use the strategy he sees fit.
GH: Can you divulge anything about the Resonance abilities?
GB: I can’t tell you much about the Resonance right now. What I can say is that we will make a big announcement soon and that afterwards we will start to release more and more information about the game, including what the Resonance is.
Besides the Resonance, which is available right from the start, the player will also be able to choose up to 6 powers out of 15 during the course of the game. Some of these powers will be more combat oriented (like the blade coming out from Faye's arm in the game trailer), while others will offer new ways to interact with the environment (like the Wings from the same video).
GH: We certainly like the artistic design, how does the gloominess of the setting affect the storyline?
GB: The artistic design perfectly reflects the mood and theme of Resonance. Our storyline is much darker and mature that the majority of RPG’s out there, so the graphics have to create a dark, eerie and twisted world.
GH: Will other characters be playable besides Faye?
GB: No, Faye Wynter is the only playable character, although she will receive help from some major characters at various points of the storyline.
GH: Certainly a unique premise, a horror-RPG hasn't been done recently. What made you choose this route instead of a more traditional swords-and-sorcery title?
GB: Well, there're two major reasons that lead us to come up with the idea of making a Horror-RPG. First, all of us here at Neocell Factory are big fans of both Survival-Horror and RPG’s and we though that it could make a great game if we were to mix the best of both genres. Second, as a new development studio, we wanted to be different. We wanted to make a game that wouldn't be a rehash of other titles already out on the market. I believe that, considering the positive reactions we have received so far, we made the right decision.
GH: How long do you expect this game will take to complete?
GB: I can’t comment on that for now.
GH: Can you tell us more about the Possessed?
GB: Once again, I can’t go into more detail right now. What I can tell you however is that there will be different types of Possessed and they are all major enemies. The story of Resonance will reveal what they really are as well as where they come from.
GH: Is Neocell currently working on any other titles?
GB: No. Right now, all our resources are put into making Resonance one of the best games ever.
