Gamecube GBA Link Cable (27/02/2004)
Options: (Print) (Send)
Must-have cable for the Gamecube gadget freaks.
Introduction

For many people, peripherals similar to the GBA Cable is used once of twice, then tucked away in a cupboard for years to come. Luckily, the GBA Cable isn't like that, many games are out, and are coming out, that need the GBA Cable to get the most out of them. So would you pay £10 to add a lot of length to many GBA and GameCube titles? I did, and I wasn't disappointed...

Nintendo have done wonders with the most simplistic things before, and the GBA Cable is no exception. What is essentially a wire is made a lot more interesting; while most cables are just ugly wires that get in the way, the GBA Cable doesn't look at at all out of place sat on top of your GBA. It doesn't clip in awkwardly, it fits perfectly and the GBA's smooth shape isn't distorted in any way because of the connector.

For those of you who get a lot of GBA and GameCube games, the GBA Cable is a perfect choice; extra levels, costumes or characters and even whole games can be unlocked with the help of the GBA Cable. Two of the most popular GBA and GameCube games have link-up capabilities; Metroid Fusion and Prime can be linked up to unlock the Fusion Suit and the original Metroid in Prime. Not only that, in games like Rayman 3 extra levels can be unlocked!

But for those of you who don't get many GBA games, there are still many extras that can be unlocked. In the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, secrets can be unlocked using a map on the GBA and using bombs, new areas can be reached. Not only this, though, whole new games can be downloaded onto your little handheld. In Dakar 2, a GBA game, better than many full priced ones, can be downloaded to your handheld until you turn it off. Also multiplayer games like the one in Rayman 3 using the GBA Cable can be played, and believe me, it's a lot of fun!

As for value, well, £10 isn't really a huge amount and you can get a lot out of it. The only downfall is, for £5, you can get basically exactly the same product, except a better fit into your GBA.

Anyone looking to get the most out of their games, the GBA Cable is perfect, it unlocks many secrets and you can get it for under £10. For some, no point, for others, maybe, for me, essential! JS
