Those Japanese eh? - they get a special Xbox controller all for themselves because they supposedly have smaller hands, and it turns out to be so good that the rest of the world want it too. A topic of much discussion and argument, the original Xbox joypad is indubitably a needlessly chunky bulbous lump of a thing, and even if you have larg(ish) hands and have played Halo for ever (like us) then you find that its size and button layout are far from ideal for many game genres. The Controller S is altogether neater and more compact, and feels much more comfortable for most types of games. Whilst the new D-pad is better for fighting games, we still prefer the old pad for Halo and Tiger Woods 2003, as we still instinctively head to the top of the pad when changing grenade types and find that the slightly longer travel on the analog sticks gives a better feel when swinging our golf bats. All in all an excellent pad and perfect for small handed and younger gamers in particular.
More compact design features:
- Eight-way directional D-pad
- Left and right analog sticks; left and right shoulder triggers
- Six pressure-sensitive multicoloured analog buttons
- Dual slots for memory cards and other peripherals
- Built-in vibration feature
- Over 9.5 feet of cable to give gamers the freedom to sit almost anywhere they want during gameplay.
