Introduction
Joytech have done a rare thing indeed with the Neo S Controller. A very rare thing.
Microsoft make an official Controller S, right? Well this is better than the official controller in a small number of ways, and it's around £5-10 cheaper as well! Although this is a third party controller it is still officially licensed for use on the Xbox so you know you can rely on it.
The button layout is an improvement on the original Xbox controller, with black and white button being moved to below the arrangement of four buttons instead of being above them, now your thumb can just easily skip on over to either of them with ease. The old style pad meant using the black and white buttons was quite a task in itself, and remember, a moment's lack of concentration in a game could mean everything!
Those who liked the original Xbox controller for it's size need not fear that this one will be too small, it still fits snuggly into your hands and the triggers are easy to use.
The D-Pad and buttons are of the same high quality as the official pad, but the two thumb sticks are better, they have more resistance to movement than the official pad, this means more precise control when using them as you can make smaller movements. Just a nice little benefit to this pad on top of the bargain price.
The actual design of the pad, size aside, is good also, no garish logo on it, just a small Joytech logo in place of where the Xbox logo is on the official pad, and this is in black so not that noticeable. The lead that connects the pad to the Xbox console is identical to the official controller one, with the autorelease feature built in just the same.
Buy one - replace your old controller with this one and save the second one for two player games, or if you want a potential opponent to have a fair chance, buy two of these!
It's better than the Microsoft one, it's cheaper than the Microsoft one, it's comfortable to use and well built, it's named after a Matrix character, what more do you want? JS
