Retro gaming has made a huge comeback and EBay has seen a huge rise in sales with many middle aged Gamers reliving the childhood and teenage years. Many of today’s avid gamers will not remember the Woody Atari or the Sinclair spectrum but some of us oldies do, and if you know where to look you could bag yourself a bargain. Car boot sales have always been a popular place to pick up any vintage items and with retro consoles fetching so much on EBay you would be forgiven for visiting your local Car boot sale for bargains on a sunny Sunday morning.
Popular consoles selling well on EBay include the previously mentioned Atari Woody made famous by such classics as Space Invaders, Pac man & Missile Command. The Sinclair Spectrum is a popular choice for a lot of retro console buyers as it is easy to use and there are so many games out there for them to buy still. Some rarer models such as the Dragon 32 or Commodore 64 can still be found although there are not many in pristine condition that are still boxed. An originally boxed console is worth vastly more than unboxed. Our old favorite the Amiga can be found in plentiful supply and even parts such as Hard Drive Belts and new keyboards can be found.
I recently purchased an Atari Woody from our favorite Online Auction House and was delighted to relive my youth playing Pac man and defender. But middle aged Gamers are not just buying for a weekend of retro gaming, but also as an investment. A boxed console will only ever appreciate as they become rarer and rarer.
